Changmei Machinists Shine at District Skills Competition

Four machinists from Changmei Technology competed in the Weibin District vocational skills contest held June 29, bringing home three awards in the precision fitting category. Pang Longhui secured first prize with a strong all-around performance, Hou Xiaorui took second place, and Cao Ningning claimed third—leaving only one team member without a podium finish.

The competition focused entirely on hands-on bench work, testing participants on part machining, dimensional accuracy, and adherence to process specifications. Contestants were given raw stock and blueprints, then evaluated on both finished measurements and workmanship. Changmei’s team approached the tasks methodically, with judges noting their careful measuring routines and consistent tool control throughout the timed session.

For Pang, who has been with the company for eight years and previously placed in local contests, this win marks his highest result to date. Hou and Cao, both younger machinists, used the event as a learning opportunity while still delivering competitive times and tolerances. The company’s training coordinator accompanied the group and observed that the contest environment pushed participants to operate under pressure—something routine production doesn’t always replicate.

Back at the factory, the results have generated quiet pride among the machining crew. Management plans to incorporate contest-style practice exercises into upcoming internal training blocks, using the competition problems as reference material. While external awards are welcome, the real value, according to the production director, lies in raising the baseline skill level across the entire workshop.
